Arcadia Man Was Killed in A Fatal Collision On I-75 Causing A 20 Year-Old Man To Be Arrested For Vehicular Homicide


Charlotte County- Florida Highway Patrol has reported a fatal auto accident has occurred at the intersection of Interstate 75 at Mile Marker 150 in Charlotte County, Florida, on September 21, at approximately 6:34 AM, resulting in one fatality and serious injuries.

According to the FHP report, a sedan driven by a 20-year-old-man from Arcadia, Florida, was traveling south on Interstate 75 in the center lane. At the same time, another sedan, operated by a 37-year-old man also from Arcadia, was traveling in the southbound left lane of the same highway. The accident occurred when the first sedan driven by the 20-year-old-man from Arcadia, Florida was attempting to change lanes and entered the path of the second sedan, driven by the 37-year-old-man from Arcadia. This maneuver led to a collision, with the left rear side of the first sedan hitting the right front side of the second sedan.

The impact of the collision caused the vehicles to veer off Interstate-75. After the collision, the second sedan driven by the 37-year-old-man from Arcadia traveled onto the grass shoulder and collided with a tree. The first sedan driven by the 20-year-old-man also ended up on the grass shoulder, where it collided with a tree and overturned.

The 37-year-old-driver of the second vehicle was pronounced deceased at the scene, while the younger driver sustained serious injuries. The FHP has been thoroughly investigating the crash since the accident.

In a recent update as of December 14, 2023, following an exhaustive criminal investigation, the 20-year-old-driver of the first vehicle has been placed under arrest for vehicular homicide. He has been booked into the Charlotte County Jail. The case continues to develop as more details emerge from ongoing investigations.
