Subaru Making Recalls On 2017 Imprezas Among Others

Subaru has announced the second in some recent recalls to their Impreza and Legacy models. The Ministry of Economy and Commerce with the Mannai Trading Company has issued recalls on the 2010-2014 models of these cars due to a faulty air injector pump. The company has also released a recall for the MY2017 Impreza due to a malfunctioning reverse camera.

2017 Subaru Impreza Recall

The new vehicles come equipped with a backup camera in the dashboard, as many newer vehicles do, to help guide you in the blind areas of your reverse position. There have been reported glitches with the new model's camera as it will freeze on one spot. While, we should all be able to back up without a camera safely, if one has become reliant on the camera or is simply looking at it when it freezes this breeds potential danger in distraction and confusion.

This is a frustrating situation for owner's of this vehicle not only because they car is brand new but Subaru went out of its way to redesign the Impreza only to have an immediate defect. That's not great form but it doesn't seem to be anything too crazy. If you have purchased a new Impreza you can take it back to the dealership to get the software on the infotainment center updated to fix the glitch in the camera. If you have been injured due to the freezing of the camera or any other malfunction, it is important to report that instance.

Other Subaru Recalls

There have been some other recent recalls for this company that you should be informed of, as well as some other classic recalls you may want to be reminded of. This year Subaru also recalled 2010-2014 models of the Impreza and Legacy models. The recall was based on the possibility of a faulty air injector pump. The air injector pump is responsible for filtering out damaging pollution in the air that can cause the internal system of the car to become damaged. This is very important especially in areas that have high smog contamination.

Airbags have also proven to be an issue for Subaru in the past as they have fallen in the long line of vehicles with Takata Airbags inside. These airbags have proven to be extremely dangerous as the pressure with which they deploy can cause injury and even rupture, sending metal pieces into the cabin. This has been an on going issue but is important to keep an eye on as changes can occur and new vehicles may be affected.

How To Keep Track Of Recalls

Manufacturers who have issued a recall are required to send a letter to each owner letting them know what the recall is about and what the next steps are. Sometimes some things can happen, mail is lost, a mistake is made or maybe you want to stay ahead of the game as far as knowing when and what recalls are happening. Many of the car companies have a section on their websites where you can input your specific VIN and look up any of the recalls that may affect your car specifically. There are also national databases and websites that provide a larger scale and similar searching system. It's a great way to ease your questions if maybe you for got what the letter said. Dealerships should be responsible for the replacement or repair of the faulty part. If you have sustained an injury based on a faulty piece of equipment, contacting an injury lawyer may be your best next step.
