2021 and 2022 Models Of Ford E Series Being Recalled

For business owners in Sarasota and drivers in Port Charlotte, Ford, one of the biggest auto manufacturers globally, is now announcing a recall on two models of the Ford e-series of vehicles. If you own or operate an E-350 DRW or an E-450 DRW cutaway van from 2021 or 2022, you should bring your vehicle in for the purposes of the recall for potential servicing and repair.

The Issue

Ford has been analyzing the problem for the last several months and has concluded that the E-series cutaway vans, used primarily for commercial, or professional uses, such as ambulances or other business vehicles, have a technical flaw related to the power steering systems. Investigations have concluded a possible technical fault in the power steering pressure line.

Ford noticed a potential problem when warranty claims were consistently made over a specific issue. Vehicle questionnaires that were issued to owners also pinpointed a potential problem, with an investigation being conducted in September 2021. As of February 22nd, 2022, the fault has been confirmed.

A possible incomplete connection of the snap-ring in the retention groove may have occurred during the side-load while installing the quick-connect fitting. This is not a manufacturing or design defect but a problem that may be potentially introduced during the assembly phase when the manufactured components are put together.

A possible outcome of this is an inadequate connection between the power steering line and brake hydroboost unit. This would mean the power steering fluid is no longer circulating as intended. Fortunately, there have been no accidents due to this, but it can mean that for drivers who rely on the ease and convenience of power steering, there may be some difficulty while driving due to more resistance from the steering mechanism should this happen.

Always Remember Consumer Your Rights

If you are using a product as intended, and a defect in that product causes you to be injured, you may be entitled to compensation. The law is designed to protect consumers who are not modifying or abusing a product, and the responsibility for consumer safety then lies with the manufacturer.

Should a product injure you while you are using it, especially if it is a motor vehicle, where the scale of injuries can be much more serious, get legal help. It is illegal for companies to produce products that are harmful to the general public, and those injured by such products can enact a lawsuit against the company for damage done. In some cases, so many people are affected by a product defect that it’s possible to join a class-action lawsuit, with multiple individuals acting together to hold a company accountable.

Depending on the injury sustained, you should always talk to an attorney experienced in personal injury. However, if it is for something specific, such as for a manufacturing defect in a vehicle, such as a car or a boat, then you may want to take things a step further and talk to an attorney with expertise in the specific type of vehicular accident you were involved in. Lawyers for both auto accidents and even boating accidents are available.
