Things That Every Parent Needs To Know About This Toy Recall

As parents, we tend to do everything in our power to keep our little angels safe. They are fragile like a package coming in the mail, but it is not as if we can wrap them in bubble wrap to prevent an injury from occurring. Watching their bright eyes and beautiful smile light up, upon giving them the perfect toy, is a priceless moment. However, it is important to remember that regardless of how cute, cuddly, and soft a toy is, it may still pose an injury risk to your child, which is exactly the case with this recall.

Manufacturers test products extensively to make sure items are safe for use by the public. However, now and then one may slip through these protocols and increase the chances of a person becoming injured. Legal action may not be the right choice for everyone, but when expensive medical bills start piling up, and it becomes hard to keep your electricity on, these tasks may become a necessity. If you, your child, or someone else becomes injured from a product recall, contact our office to find out if you have legal options to receive compensation for these injuries.

Recall Number 17-188 Issued On July 13, 2017

There has only been one incident reported over minor lacerations to TOMY International. The company is recalling about 9,300 Lamaze Munching Max chipmunk stuffed toys that sold in the US and another 4,700 purchased in Canada. The firm recommends that consumers immediately discontinue use, being sure to take them away from children, and contacting the customer service department at 866-725-4407 for a free replacement or coupon for the organization's online store.

The chipmunk is multicolored with a clip on the head, which when pulled causes the toy to vibrate intensely for a fun experience that children and pets alike enjoy. However, these fluctuating motions may lead to metal pieces breaking off internally. The fragments can work their way through the soft, plush surface, leading to cuts, and other injuries, being sustained by the user. The one incident reported involved a skin laceration on a hand, but often children head straight for their mouth with anything, and everything, so more extensive injuries to other body parts are plausible.

Units Sold At Popular Retailers

Brick and mortar retail stores, which include Babies R Us and Toy R Us, as well as multiple others, sold the product from May 2016 through July 2017. It was also available online at Amazon and had a price tag of around $16. In other words, you could have purchased this item last year and forgotten about it by now. Once your little one gains interest in it again, it will pose a risk to their safety. It is of the utmost importance that you protect them, and eliminate the threat from their lives. A sewn-in label is located, towards the chipmunk's tail, and if the model number of L27578 is present, you have an affected unit. Stay up-to-date on product related recalls like these, and with any luck, together, we can prevent injuries from happening so that you do not need our services.
